I've been to meetings for PATFC. They are going to offer some things IVS has no appetite for. For instance they offer individual coaching via FAST. PATFC encourages members to support IVS and to run Steamboat and Team Steam, Building Steam, etc. They want IVS support to run their finish lines at races. They want IVS to put races on the IVS race calendar. At this level it's no different from any other organization holding a 5k in the area. I encourage you all to go out and try out PATFC events. They are no doubt going to be fun and they are planning on some unique distances that we rarely have opportunities to run. We have a bunch of 5k's in the area and they want to add more variety i.e. more kids track as well as post-collegiate T&F, as well as less frequently hosted distances like 3k, 10k, 12k, 15k, 20k runs. They are supporting inner city kids k-8 development. I think that's great for Peoria, but regardless of school district you can also get your kids involved if it works for you. They are doing lots to make it fun for youth. If you are in HS and run cross country, you might want a summer running clinic. The area HS coaches have strict rules about off season coaching but kids still need running outlets and PATFC can offer them. IVS supports these events but doesn't necessarily want to host them. So it fits well for the running community and for Peoria to have PATFC. If you can get kids interested early and you offer enhanced off season outlets for those kids that are interested, it's only going to help Peoria. District 150 is having a difficult time as is and is not capable of supporting track and field but many outlying (better funded) districts do. Thats too bad for kids in town but it's going to change! Having this will help us by helping the business community attract people to come to Peoria. It's just one more great reason to live here! Because of IVS, PATFC, and all of you, Peoria has so much more than just great weather to offer
