5.25 miles in 57 min. Did the hilly 5.8 mile loop by my house. Nice hilly country roads. Saw the usual cows and horses. There was 1 deer and a groundhog. The amazing thing was no roadkill. That's unheard of around here.

I'm getting back into the swing of 5K training after a lot of strength training (hill repeats and some weight lifting). Yesterday was 12x400 at goal 5K pace with 30sec rest in between. It didn't feel too bad. Next week the same thing with only 15 sec rest.

Boston was my last marathon (now this Ultra thing might be a different story)

4 miles, 4 creek crossings, 4 Hillside repeats. It was a 4s kind of day. Missed Comlara trails. Well trails in general. Haven't run trail since last year.

I did 8 miles last night at avg 8 min pace....first 4 were 8:30, the last 4 were 7:30 because there is a slight uphill on the way out and a down hill on the way back (East Peoria/Fondulac trail)
I'd classify it as one of those rare
perfect
runs....everything went great. good weather, nothing bothered me, breathing was easy, stride was effortless. Wish every run were like this!

Team Steam workout: 3x2mi. repeats through the cemetary. The loop ended up being more like 1.5, so that was a sweet surprise. Had a great workout nonetheless! I can smell a Steamboat PR.

Hit the gravel roads south of town. Thought I was around 5 or 6, drove it and it came out to just over 7 miles at a 10 minute pace. Threw in a few nice hills, figured the gravel roads will be good training for Arkansas! Good run, felt good to get out.

Team Steam workout: One loop of the 1/2 marathon loop through springdale cemetary after a 1+ mi. warmup. Was supposed to be a hard/easy workout (alternating hard and easy pacing), but it wasn't marked for that so they told us to run it however we wanted to. I alternated hard/easy miles and it felt great! Finally starting to feel stronger instead of having dead legs all the time from all these hills and repeats.

Decided to save on gas today and ran to work. 1st 1.25 was a little slow because I had the small dog with me and ran him to his doggy daycare (yes my dog goes to daycare). He was not pleased he got out of bed to RUN to daycare. He'll be even happier when he finds out he has to run home too. Ran the next 2.25 at a pretty decent pace. Beautiful morning and felt great even though I've slacked and not run since Saturday. Wore the new Minimuses too. I really love these shoes!

I won't lie...I'm still a tad sore...yesterday very much so...but in a good way. I'm proud of myself for finishing & not stopping. The most I ever run is 4 miles a few times a week....and no hills like that for sure!

6 x 1/4mi hill repeats for team steam, followed by 2mi. timetrial! I think the time trial would've been a little more accurate if it were first, but maybe the point of the workout was to do it tired, and perhaps they knew they wouldn't get any real 2mi. effort without calling it a "time trial"

Seriously? Nobody posted what they ran at CRUD on Saturday? Well, okay, then:
I ran 28 miles at CRUD on Saturday, May 21, 2011, and I'm darned proud of it!
As a side note, no one should miss an Adam/Mike event!

Fine! 56 miles - not what I was hoping for, but under the circumstances I'm pretty happy. Bonus, I'm gonna lose the big toe nail on my right foot for a change!

Melody: it is because what I did was...well...waddled, limped, etc.
How is the piriformis?

If you feel good during an ultra, don't worry. You'll get over it.
