holy crud, did you guys see this??? Jubilee College State Park Events Jeopardized By KEN THOMAS, Associated Press – Thu Mar 31, 4:10 pm CT SPRINGFIELD Jubilee College State Park is a 3,200-acre gem of a facility, located in Peoria County between the towns of Kickapoo and Brimfield, just off U.S. Route 150. This scenic area, with its rolling topography and meandering Jubilee Creek, offers various outdoor recreational opportunities. Those recreational opportunities are now diminished thanks to a raucous group of park-goers who held a running event in May of 2010. The Illinois DNR fielded numerous complaints about drunken revelers, often covered in mud from the park's trails, disrupting the peace of families trying to enjoy a beautiful spring day. Local Brimfield resident Laurie Schwindenhammer was out for a hike with her two children on that fateful Saturday: "I am appalled that my children had to witness debauchery the likes of which have been scarcely known in these parts of Peoria County. In my opinion, those people are animals who do not deserve use of a taxpayer-funded park." A DNR review commission was convened last week, arriving at a vote of 10-0 in favor of suspending all further organized activities at the park. Spokesman Scott Regal said, "We simply cannot take a chance that members of the public could be corrupted by the scurrilous activities of these individuals. A few rotten apples can indeed spoil the whole basket. We were really left with no other choice." The woods of Jubillee State Park will be a whole lot quieter this spring.
