It's mid-July and time for the Badwater 135 again!
 
Zach Gingerich is back to try and repeat.

Oswaldo Lopez of California finishes 1st in 23:41.
 
Zach Gingerich 4th in 26:45.
 
I'm always amazed at the finisher rate in this race.  Always around 75-80%.
 
It would seem that there would be so many opportunities for things to go "wrong".  Hydration, other physical problems, etc.  I guess since you have your crew with you, you're able to "fix" things before they become big enough for you to need to drop.
 
Congratulations to everyone (runners and crews) who braved Death Valley!
