it's not really a "trail" run per se--you're looking at a basically flat course mostly on double track grass and dirt.  the only "hill" to speak of is probably 100 feet or so of paved road.  there is tree cover for 75% of the course, but there are some open areas.  i wouldn't worry about the running surface at all, just work on staying hydrated.  it's an awesome race with great food/beer at the end of the 8 hours.  enjoy.

I'll concur with Dirt Devil.  Mostly grass, some dirt, some paved road.  You won't notice much difference from one to the other on the course.  The hill isn't intimidating on the first loop, but later in the day it becomes longer and steeper somehow  Wink.  The hill is paved and then has a stretch of paved road right after it.  I found this part somewhat difficult later in the day as the sun came out full blast.  There was no shade and the pavement made it seem worse.  The rest of the lopp is generally covered in some shade.  It is quite an event and was a nice first ultra for me last year.  Looking forward to it again this year (50 miles or bust!).

Can't wait Smiley  I'm not going to push anything crazy (only looking for 30ish miles as a long run for my race two weeks after), but I am going to go out and have fun...that much I know

Looks like we might catch a break on the heat.  Might even get some cloud cover and a spit of rain!

so much for cloud cover!!!!  beautiful day, though it started getting pretty toasty there!

Great seeing and (re)meeting everyone!

some really good performances out there today!  I'm impressed with the power the winner was able to generate even late in the day....seemed pretty much unstoppable! I think he ended with 56.x miles....very impressive!

Peoria was well represented in the (very generous) award which was awesome.  Great job everyone!!!! Smiley
