I admit that I am impressed.

He’s already set three records for men over 90 — one for 10,000 metres, which he completed in 64 minutes in the Lahore Marathon in 2005; and two in Toronto, for a half-marathon in 2004 (2 hours 29 minutes 59 seconds) and a full marathon in 2003 (5 hours 40 minutes 1 second).

Now he wants one more record in his century-old age.

But let us not forget the great Ed Whitlock of Canada who beat his age group record by 10 minutes at the Toronto Marathon with a time of 3:15 at 80 freakin' years old!"

It floors me that there are people that struggle at any age (and many of which never do) to break 3:00 in the marathon, qualify for Boston, etc. and this guy has been doing these feats in as late as his 70s!  When they bury this guy, the only thing left will be a left ventricle the size of Anchorage!

Chuck Norris ain't got !@#$ on this guy...

This is unbelievable.

No I don't doubt the story.  But here is what I don't get: when I run or walk a race, I want to know "how fast can I do this race" and if I take a short cut, then I won't find out will I?

That is why I don't cheat on science and math results; I work on a problem because I want to know the answer.  Cheating (e. g. using fake data) means that you won't find out the real answer.

Ollie,

You sound like my wife.

I guess it doesn't matter what you tend to do, you get people who cheat.  And what happens?  Rosie Ruiz isn't thought of as a runner, she's a cheater.  I don't see Barry Bonds as a baseball player, at one point I did, I see a cheater now.  Same with Madrazo.

Coaching golf, I see the same thing it is so easy to not count a penalty when I do practice rounds with the kids, but I count everything I do because I don't want the kids see me cheat.  Its not helping them.

Later,

BWS
